Organizers of the annual Earth Day Fashion Forward event in Lewisburg are calling for entries from professional and amateur clothing designers.

The newly refurbished Lewis Theater on Court Street in Lewisburg is the venue for this year’s event at 3 pm on Earth Day, April 20, featuring the theme “Garden Party.”

The event is a fundraiser for the Blue Skies Ahead Get-Out-The-Vote campaign, a political action committee of the Greenbrier Democratic Women’s Club.

Sustainable fashion features materials that are reused, recycled and repurposed into creations that also help reduce waste in landfills and promote the health of the planet.

“Appalachia has such a rich tradition of thrift and sustainability,” said event chair Diane Browning in a press release. “As our grandmothers used to say, waste not, want not. It’s only fitting that we’re now seen as leaders and innovators of the sustainable fashion movement.”

Tickets are on sale. Admission includes food and drink.

Award prizes will be given in a range of categories.

Contestant entry forms, tickets, and sponsorship opportunities are all available at edfashionforward.com.
